Hazelwood has the medicinal property of neutralizing the body's acidity (pH). How does Hazelwood work?
Hazelwood provides a natural alternative to many of the more expensive, intensive, and messy treatments. Hazelwood is an alkaline wood and has the natural property of absorbing and neutralizing the body's acidity through contact with the skin. Acidity in the body during teething often leads to symptoms such as diaper rash, diarrhea, teething rash, runny nose, increased reflux episodes and inflammation of the cheeks. Hazelwood aids in relieving or preventing many of the symptoms caused by this unbalanced acidity.
Are Hazelwood teething necklaces safe?
Hazelwood is completely 100% natural and handmade right from the gathering of the wood to the threading of the necklaces. The string used for the necklaces is made from a metal thread covered in a softer nylon. The clasps are sterling silver hook clasps that are the weakest part of the necklace and will break with sufficient pressure.
That being said, Hazelwood teething necklaces are for wearing and NOT CHEWING. We advise that your child is supervised when wearing the necklace. This necklace can be worn in the bath; but should be removed when swimming.
How long will my Hazelwood necklace last
The life span of your necklace will depend on the level of acidity of your body. Generally, a Hazelwood necklace will maintain its benefits for 2-3 months sometimes longer. The more severe the symptoms may mean a shorter lifespan of the necklace. Two indicators that your necklace is losing effectiveness include: (1) the ends of the wood beads will darken and/or; (2) the symptoms return. Don't be alarmed if/when the bark comes off the Hazelwood beads; the wood beads will change over time as they cannot be coated with anything in order to perform their function (absorbing acidity).
